Now that Apple has won the majority of its patent suit against Samsung, the company has decided to file an amendment to include the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note into the list of products that infringe on patents and the iPhone maker wishes to ban.
The filing was made just a few days ago, but it involves a complaint against the products from all the way back in February. Though Apple is not claiming design infringement with these two products, they still believe these two additional devices violate utility patents.
Apple has also requested a sales ban on Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus, and a San Jose, CA court granted the request. However, pending an appeal in Washington, D.C., the ban has temporarily been lifted. A ban on the Galaxy S3 was also sought after in June, but the complaint was put on hold because of a packed court system.
Apple says this in their amended complaint today: “infringing Samsung products include the at least 21 new smartphones, media players, and tablets that Samsung has released beginning in August 2011 and continuing through August 2012.” The complaint goes on to list the Verizon version of the S3, the regular S3, all Galaxy Note smartphones, and the Galaxy Note tablet.
Google’s new Android OS, Jellybean, is said to fix each and every one of Apple’s infringement complaints. There have been several rumors spread throughout the tech world indicating that all of the existing Android-based phones may need to be updated to Jellybean, though no official information has come through on this topic.
